Job Description

Racing Victoria (RV) is one of Australia’s leading sporting organisations, and the independent governing body of thoroughbred racing in Victoria. We develop, promote and manage the conduct of the racing of thoroughbred horses in Victoria to safeguard its integrity.

RV is seeking a Wagering Licensing & Regulation Specialist to join our team on a 12 month fixed-term contract. This role is pivotal in the licensing and regulation of Victorian Bookmakers and will report directly to the Manager Wagering Licensing and Regulation.

About the role:

As the Wagering Licensing & Regulation Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to assist in the licensing and regulation of Victorian Bookmakers. You will process race fields applications from Wagering Service Providers (WSPs) to bet on Victorian Thoroughbred Racing (VTR) and monitor their compliance with conditions of approval. Additionally, you will manage customer complaints and disputes related to Victorian Bookmakers and WSPs approved to bet on VTR.

Some of the skills and experience you will have include:

  • Strong knowledge of betting rules and regulations, with a good understanding of thoroughbred racing, Bookmaker, and WSP operations.
  • Ability to interpret, analyse, and interrogate wagering data.
  • Understanding of data protection and the legal implications on wagering issues.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to write well-structured compliance and audit reports.
  • Unquestionable integrity.
  • Relevant tertiary or post-graduate qualification(s).
