The Track Renovations Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the ongoing performance, safety and sustainability of turf racecourses across Victoria. This position supports the renovation, maintenance and improvement of selected racing surfaces through the effective scheduling, coordination and oversight of track repair and improvement programs.
This is a hands-on role requiring regular travel across regional Victoria, including some overnight stays during peak renovation periods (Spring/Summer). A company vehicle is provided as part of the role.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate the delivery of the annual track renovation program across Victoria, managing contractors and suppliers to ensure quality and timely outcomes. Provide regular progress and risk updates to the Tracks and Facilities Manager, maintain renovation equipment, tools and accurate records, and deliver works in line with approved budgets and annual plans while supporting continuous improvement of renovation processes and systems.
Build strong working relationships with Track Managers and key internal and external stakeholders, acting as a key point of contact for renovation activities and issue resolution. Ensure all activities comply with safety, environmental and organisational policies, and participate in required training and development to maintain capability and performance.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Certificate III in Sports Turf Management (or similar) is highly regarded, with demonstrated experience in turf maintenance and renovation practices.
- Strong working knowledge of machinery, including the ability to operate, maintain and undertake basic repairs.
- Heavy Combination Truck Licence (desired), Forklift Licence and current Driver Licence (mandatory).
- Sound problem-solving skills, attention to detail and strong safety awareness.
- Occupational Health & Safety qualifications and experience in thoroughbred racing surfaces are desirable.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive working relationships.
- Basic computer skills, including email and Microsoft Office, with up-to-date knowledge of warm and cool season grasses.
- Ability to work independently, remain self-motivated, physically fit, and willing to travel extensively across Victoria, including overnight stays.
