Job Description

Are you a storyteller who can spot a story before anyone else, capture it on camera, bring it to life in writing, and deliver it on-air?

At Racing.com, we're looking for a Multi-Media Journalist to join our Content team and help tell the stories that make audiences care. This is not a traditional journalism role. It's an opportunity for a modern, multi-skilled content creator who thrives across broadcast, digital, social and audio platforms. This role is designed for someone equally comfortable at trackwork before dawn, interviewing racing participants on-course, producing feature content, presenting live on-air, writing compelling digital stories, and contributing to podcasts and social content.

About Us

Racing.com is part of the Racing Victoria Group, working to promote and grow thoroughbred racing across Victoria. We are passionate about showcasing the people, horses and moments that make our industry one of Australia's most compelling sporting and entertainment stories.

The Opportunity

As our Multi-Media Journalist, you'll be responsible for creating original content that resonates with audiences across every Racing.com platform.

You'll:

  • Break news and uncover exclusive stories from across the Victorian racing industry.
  • Attend trackwork, raceday meetings and industry events to gather stories and build relationships.
  • Produce, shoot, edit and present compelling feature content for broadcast.
  • Write engaging news, features, previews and analysis for Racing.com.
  • Present on-air as a host, correspondent, interviewer or panellist.
  • Contribute to podcasts, social media content and digital storytelling initiatives.
  • Repurpose content across multiple formats to maximise audience reach.
  • Help strengthen Racing.com's reputation as the leading voice in Victorian racing.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who combines strong journalism fundamentals with creativity, curiosity and a genuine passion for storytelling.

You will have:

  • 3-5 years' experience in journalism, broadcasting or multimedia content production.
  • Proven experience creating video features from concept through to delivery.
  • A strong track record in news reporting, feature writing and original content creation.
  • Confidence presenting on camera and conducting interviews.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, deadline-driven media environments.
  • The ability to identify, develop and break original stories.
  • Experience creating content across digital, social and audio channels.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Hands-on video production and editing capability, including Adobe Premiere Pro and related tools.
  • Outstanding relationship-building skills and the ability to establish trusted industry contacts.

Who You Are

You are:

  • Passionate about racing, sport and storytelling.
  • Proactive, curious and always looking for the next story.
  • Comfortable operating in dynamic, high-pressure environments.
  • A collaborative team player who enjoys working across content, broadcast, production and social teams.
  • Committed to delivering premium-quality work every time.
  • Adaptable, resilient and energised by early starts, live events and breaking news.

What's Different About This Role?

This is a true multi-platform opportunity.

One day you may be filming trackwork before sunrise, the next interviewing a leading trainer, hosting on-course coverage, recording a podcast, editing a feature package, or breaking a major story online.

If you're looking for a role where no two days are the same, and where you can tell great stories across every medium, this could be the perfect opportunity.

Requirements

  • Current Driver's Licence.
  • Working With Children Check.
  • National Police Check and probity check.
  • Willingness to work weekends, early mornings, evenings and peak racing periods including Spring Carnival.
  • Ability to travel throughout Victoria and interstate when required.

Why Join Racing.com?

At Racing.com, you'll work alongside some of the industry's best broadcasters, journalists and content creators while helping shape the future of racing media. You'll have access to unique stories, industry-leading platforms and the opportunity to connect racing with both passionate fans and new audiences.
